Heading out to Johannesburg to Shepstone Garden for the wedding of Yolande & Morne, I get that tingly feeling inside my stomach. I just know it was going to be a stunning wedding. Floris and I got to know Yolande & Morne over the past few months as we discussed there wedding plans, details of the wedding day and we became friends along the way… Won’t say Morne, was in the same high school as me, (as I was the older one…) On our way to Shepstone Garden, we realized that this is our first wedding here, looking forward to spending this wonderful day with them. A little bit nervous as well, just for the fact that not only our first wedding at this spectacular venue, but also my first wedding where we only get to shoot natural available light. As Morne get’s epileptic shock, and we do not wish him to spend his wedding night in hospital, all has been arranged with the guest that No Flash photography is allowed… I think I was in my element! As I love grain, it reminds me of the olden days of film photography where you got to explore, so pushing my ISO to about 2000 – 6400 was nothing that my Nikon D4 could not handle! I really love shooting natural light, and the best part for us on the wedding day, they trusted us completely to capture all the elements of the day in our romantic, photojournalistic with a bit of a fine art style.
Enough about us, here is a little bit of their Love Story:
We met in Gr 11, and it was love at first sight! Eight years later, while on holiday in Ballito, he proposed to me at our favorite restaurant, Beira Alta. Going down on one knee, and asking me to marry him. He had two ring boxes in his hand, the one my engagement ring, and another one, a toe ring with 3 diamonds, and said that he loves me from my “head to toes”. I felt like the luckiest girl in the whole wide world! On our wedding day, he was a bit stressed. I felt quite calm, but forgot my bouquet in my room, and Floris kindly offered to fetch it for me (nerves obviously kicked in). When I entered the chapel, and saw my handsome man standing there, I knew that this was the perfect day! God has planned for our paths to cross, and I couldn’t be more thankful to Him!
It was truly an honor to be part of your beautiful wedding day!
